Pharmed is a Complete Healthcare Provider; distributor of ethical, generic, patent, homeopathic, surgical, dental and veterinary products to dispensing doctors and retail pharmacies. It was founded in 1985, in Overport, Durban with its head office in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is pleased to announce that it has, acquired Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd.

Pharmed and our major shareholder, Lenmed Health are very excited at this new development. The newly-created business is now known as Pharmed Pharmaceuticals (Pty )Ltd incorporating Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd.

For some time now, PHARMED has recognized the need to have a presence in the Gauteng region. At present, about 20% of our business is generated from that area and we see a huge potential for this to increase even further, by this acquisition.

Pharmed started with humble beginnings in response to demands of the day, as a distributor of pharmaceutical products, and accessories to health professionals and has now over the years grown, to become a formidable and respected national distributor.

Pharmed has 635 shareholders at present (with 26 511 079 shares in circulation) who according to the Articles of Association have to be members of the Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Profession.

Pharmed has in excess of 8900 active accounts consisting of doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and others from allied professionals.

Currently, our stock holding is in excess of 30 000 products, which we distribute to over 3500 destinations in South Africa through Virtual Logistics, in which Pharmed has a major shareholding.

Lenmed Health Group , which  is a private hospital group , comprising of 6 hospitals and owns a 45% stake in Pharmed. This partnership has enhanced our presence in the Hospital Industry.

Pharmed has extensive experience in the healthcare industry over the past 27 years in South Africa. Pharmed’s Board of Directors has collectively years of experience in the healthcare industry and provide much knowledge in the administration and management of Pharmed.

Pharmed’s impressive staff compliment comprises Professional Buyers, Accounts Personnel, a Marketing & Rep force Team, Telesales Agents, Administration, Human Resources department, Warehouse and Dispatch Personnel and Drivers.

Pharmed is registered with the South African Pharmacy Council and Medicine Control Council of South Africa. This ensures compliance that all pharmaceuticals are regulated and subjected to regular audits by statutory bodies.
