Pharmed is a Complete Healthcare Provider, distributor of ethical, generic, patent, homeopathic, surgical, dental and veterinary products to dispensing doctors, retail pharmacies and other allied healthcare professionals. It was founded in 1985, in Overport, Durban with its head office in Durban, Kwa Zulu-Natal. For some time now, we had wanted to establish a “branch” in Gauteng. This has been attained through a purchase of a long standing wholesaler, with an already established client base through the purchase of Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd. It remains for us to improve on our public relations in the area and win over new customers to improve sales. We see a huge potential for PHARMED through this acquisition.

Pharmed and our major shareholder, Lenmed Health are very excited at this new development. The newly-created business is now known as Pharmed Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd incorporating Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd.

Pharmed has 656 shareholders at present (authorized share capital of 40 million par value shares of which 268 108 92 are in issue), who according to the Memorandum of Incorporation have to be members of the Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Profession.

Our total staff compliment for Pharmed Group is 421 staff members.

Pharmed has in excess of 8900 active accounts consisting of doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, veterinary practices and other allied professionals.

Currently, our stock holding is in excess of 30 000 products, which we distribute to over 3500 destinations in South Africa through Virtual Logistics. Pharmed has a major shareholding in Virtual Logistics, whose extensive fleet delivers twice daily to areas around Durban and Johannesburg and offers an overnight service to all major centres nationally. Together, we improve the platform of distribution within the healthcare sector.

Pharmed is a preferred supplier to the Lenmed private hospital group comprising of 8 hospitals , 6 in South Africa and 2 across border, namely Maputo and Botswana. This partnership has enhanced our presence in the Hospital Industry.

Pharmed has extensive experience in the healthcare industry over the past 27 years in South Africa. Pharmed’s Board of Directors has collectively, years of experience in the healthcare industry and imparts knowledge and experience in the administration and management of the group.

Pharmed’s impressive staff compliment comprises Professional Buyers, Accounts Personnel, a Marketing & Rep force Team, Telesales Agents, Administration, Human Resources department, Warehouse and Dispatch Personnel and Drivers.

Pharmed is registered with the South African Pharmacy Council and Medicine Control Council of South Africa This ensures compliance that all pharmaceuticals are regulated and subjected to regular audits by statutory bodies. The price of pharmaceutical products is governed by Government Regulation, which pro tem imposes restrictions on free market sales. Pharmed is also an active member of PLASA – Pharmaceutical Logistics Association of South Africa.

Pharmed has unique and key skills in fine and bulk distribution through our logistics company Virtual Logistics, as well as our ability to promote and sell brands on behalf of suppliers as well as our own in-house brands.

Pharmed is a Level 5 Contributor as of October 2011. It is one of our projects to improve on, in order to enhance our corporate image.

HIMALAYA PHARMA

Since the 1^st of January, 2010 we have concluded a Distribution Agreement, with The HIMALAYA DRUG COMPANY (Pty) Ltd (of India,) for the sales and marketing of various herbal healthcare products manufactured by them, within the Republic of South Africa.
For us, this is an exciting partnership. The Himalaya range of products is world renowned and we believe that the partnership can open new doors for ourselves and our principles, with their extensive list of products which we are able to offer to the healthcare market.

Our relationship has matured over the years, and we expect future sales to justify our faith in these products.

DIRECT IMPORTS

The direct import of Surgical and Medical Equipment has allowed us to be competitive in these markets and this bodes well for us to establish a strong presence in the market place.
